Due to the forecast of potentially dangerous weather tomorrow afternoon in New Jersey, the final round will feature a a split-tee start in threesomes off of Nos. 1 and 10 tees beginning at 8:15 am. The final threesome of the day off No. 1 will feature leader Leona Maguire alongside Jenny Shin and Stephanie Meadow.
Meadow and Maguire are longtime friends from Ireland. Meadow missed a short putt at the 18th that potentially cost her a spot in the final group, but once the PGA of America went to threesomes for Sunday, that changed.
Meadow and Maguire have played youth golf together, LPGA golf together, played alongside one another in a Curtis Cup and sometimes still room on the road together. Meadow said she was about 13 when she met Maguire, who was 10 at the time.
Quipped Meadow, “I knew Leona when she was reading Harry Potter books.”
