Already it has been a magical season for World No. 1 Nelly Korda, who won five consecutive starts at one point, tying an all-time LPGA record, a stretch that included capturing the season’s first major, the Chevron Championship at The Woodlands, in Texas. Soon after winning No. 5, she would add a sixth victory to 2024, winning the Mizuho Americas Championship in New Jersey.
But there are plenty of big events for Korda still to play in ’24. First and foremost is this week's KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, an event she won three years ago. After this week, she has two more overseas majors, the CME Group Tour Championship, a Solheim Cup, and of course, the Olympics in Paris. Korda will head to Le Golf National as one of three or four (to be determined this week) U.S. players, and is the reigning gold medalist, having won gold in Tokyo in 2021. (The 2020 Olympic Games were delayed a year by COVID.)
“I have never been to Paris,” Korda said this week, “and the one thing I'm really looking forward to is the croissants, probably on every corner. I love bakeries and baked goods, so that's one thing I'm really looking forward to.
“And obviously, representing my country and getting to compete in the Olympics is such an incredible opportunity. I'm just super excited to get there and even just to play that golf course. I got to watch it in the Ryder Cup. To be able to play such amazing golf courses like we do nowadays will be such a treat.”
