Golf’s major championships do not visit the Pacific Northwest all that often, and when it happens, it can leave an impression on the players who haven’t spent much time there. Count Patty Tavatanakit as one of this week’s bigger fans of Seattle. She says she might move here.

“It’s just beautiful. I love the Northwest,” she said. “Seattle is one of my favorite cities to visit, and I kind of want to move here. ... It’s just a little cold and rainy for golf. But hopefully in the future I can get like a summer place here, and just come during the summer.”

Tavatanakit actually visited the area one offseason, spending a week in Portland, and then a week in Seattle. In Portland, she hiked up Mount Hood, where there is no cell service.

“Just me in the getaway cabin,” she said. “It was really fun, and I really miss it. Just something about that, you know, like the green and even the drive with all the trees. It’s so pretty.”
